Duration: Academic Year 2025-2026
Hours: Full-time - 7:30-2:30 School Days
Position Overview:
Portville Central School District is seeking a dedicated and motivated School Psychologist Intern to support our students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral well-being. This is a paid internship at the rate of $17,000 annually. This internship provides hands-on experience in conducting assessments, providing interventions, and collaborating with educators, parents, and staff to foster a supportive learning environment. Under the supervision of a certified doctoral level school psychologist, the intern will gain valuable skills in applying psychological principles to support student success.
Responsibilities:
Conduct psychoeducational assessments, including cognitive, academic, and social-emotional evaluations, under supervision.
Assist in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
Provide counseling and intervention services to students individually and in small groups.
Support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks.
Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents regarding student needs and strategies for intervention.
Assist in crisis response and intervention services as needed.
Participate in data collection and progress monitoring to support student growth.
Attend and contribute to team meetings, such as CSE meetings, student support team meetings, and professional development sessions.
Stay informed on best practices in school psychology and special education laws.
Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district policies and confidentiality guidelines.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in an accredited School Psychology graduate program (Ed.S. or equivalent).
Completion of required coursework and practicum experience prior to internship.
Strong understanding of psychological assessments, behavioral interventions, and counseling techniques.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and educational teams.
Commitment to ethical and professional standards in school psychology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting.
Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
Familiarity with data-driven decision-making and behavioral interventions.
