Good Morning Portville Panthers!

 TODAY IS…Tuesday, September 13th, 2022

It is an “ F “  Day

 Seniors: there will be a senior meeting on Friday during Period X in the high school cafeteria. We will be discussing the upcoming homecoming chicken BBQ. 

 

The PCS Soapbox Derby team will be racing in the Olean Area Soapbox Derby this Saturday, September 17th. Ava Andrews, Alex Edick, August Smith-Metler and Lucas Lyons will be competing against STEM teams from schools in Olean, Allegany-Limestone, Cuba-Rushford, Oswayo Valley and Franklinville. The racing will begin at 8:00 and end around noon on South Union Street in Olean, starting at Henley Street and ending at Green Street by Reeds Food Barn. Come out and show your support!

 

Reminder ..Class Officer applications need be returned to the main office by the end of the school day on Wednesday, September 14th.

 Any student that took drivers ed over the summer, please stop by the library with your laptop.

 

There will be STUDENT COUNCIL meeting today in LIBRARY during Period X. Students in grades 8th through 11th who were members last year should be in attendance.  The main topic of the meeting will be Homecoming 2022.  Please come to the meeting with ideas! Again, this meeting will be in the Library.

 Art Society's first meeting will be Thursday, September 15th in room 103.  Please see Ms. Burdick if you have any questions.

 

The first Drama Club meeting for the year will be today after school in the Auditorium. Drama Club is open to all students grades 7-12. We have an exciting year planned with a field trip to a Broadway show, the fall play, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the spring musical, Disney’s Frozen. Whether you’d like to act or be part of the backstage crew, we have a place for you!

 

There will be an International Club meeting on Friday, September 16th during per X in the LECTURE HALL. We will vote for officers, discuss our upcoming fundraiser, and hear all about our next trip in 2024 to Costa Rica! New members grades 8 and up are welcome to attend! See Ms. Nolder for details.

 

Here is the Academic Club’s question of the day: Who is the oldest player to ever play for the national Football League?  (No, not Tom Brady… George Blanda retired in 1975 at the age of 48!)

If you’re a Jeopardy master or an up and coming scholar who knows a thing or two, show off your skills and get credit for your knowledge. The Academic Club is looking for new recruits! 

The Academic Club lets you flex your mental muscles in the areas of Literature, Science, Math, History, Current Events, Trivia, and more.

Signing up couldn’t be easier. Simply stop in at the main office, and print your name and contact information on the Academic Club sign-up sheet now through Friday, September 16. Spaces are limited, so sign up soon. Successful applicants will be contacted directly.

Practices are held weekly on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Late bus transportation will be available if needed…

“The boys modified soccer team put together a great team effort to defeat Salamanca last night 11-0.  Scoring for the Panthers were Victor Vena, Connor Roulo, Aiden Richardson, Lucas Edwards, Garrett Reynolds, Parker Keim, Gabe Evans, and Thomas Mackey.  The Boys Modified soccer team will travel to Randolph on Wednesday to take on the Cardinals.”

After a slow start, the boys varsity soccer team rolled Salamanca/Catt LV 7-0. Mikey Cole had 2 goals and 2 assists. Mario Pascucci had 2 goals and an assist. Brady German had a goal and an assist. Other scorers were Colin German, Simon Szymanski, and Kaiden Scanlon. Well done boys!
