The Library will be closed today and tomorrow for Science Lab testing.

 

“Do you like Star Wars, Food, Baseball and Fireworks?  Well, if you’re interested in attending the Bison’s Baseball game this Saturday, June 11th, please pick up a permission slip in the high school office. PREFERENCE will be given to students affected by the rain date, but there are extra spots available.   Permission slips are due back by this Thursday, June 9th.”

 

The PCS Soapbox Derby team competed this weekend at the Jamestown Area All-American Soapbox Derby against a field of 46 of the area's top teams. Congratulations to Olivia Artlip who led the PCS team with a 5th place finish in the Super Stock division in the All-American race falling to the derby finalist by a mere one-thousandth of a second. Olivia followed that up with a 2nd place finish in the Super Stock STEM division race followed by Ava Andrews who finished in 3rd place in the Super Stock STEM division. Alex Edick represented Portville in the Stock division bringing home the 3rd place medal in the STEM race. August Smith-Metler was able to bring home a bracket win in his first ever Derby. Great job by everyone on the PCS Soapbox Derby team.

Congratulations to the following athletes that competed at the Section 6 State Qualifier Track and Field meet: Jenna Wyant, Julia Wyant, Jessica Daley, Aryanna Hatch, Olivia Dean, Kyle North, Bryan Randolph, Simon Szymanski, Ben Isaman, and Parker Dornan.

 

Jenna Wyant placed 2nd in the Division 2 400 meter dash and broke her own school record again with a time of 59.44 seconds.

Jenna along with Julia Wyant, Aryanna Hatch, and Jessica Daley placed 2nd in the Division 2 1600 meter relay and breaking their own school record with a time of 4:08.45 seconds.

 

On Saturday, the varsity baseball team ran its record to 21 and 1 with a 3 to 2 win over Oakfield-Alabama in the Far West Regionals. With the win, the Panthers move on to the state final four this weekend in Binghamton for the first time since 1998. Maxx Yehl was a bulldog on the mound, striking out 14 in 6 and 2/3 innings, allowing 2 hits and 0 earned runs. Michael Cole doubled, Yehl, Luke Petruzzi, and Dakota Mascho scored the 3 runs for Portville, and Petruzzi, Mascho, and Mario Pascucci had the RBIs. Luke Petryszak came on in the 7th to record a one pitch save, inducing a groundout to Nathan Petryszak for the final out. Great job boys!
