Good Morning Portville Panthers!

 

TODAY IS…Monday, May 16th, 2022                                        It is an “ E “  Day

 

We are hosting a Blood Drive on Thursday from 8AM – 2PM in the HS Gym.  At this point, we only have four people signed up.  We really need to get better participation.  Please consider donating and saving three lives with a single donation.  See Mrs. Welty to sign up!

 

This Friday the Senior Class will be sponsoring a Hat Day. Cost is $1. Class officers will come around first period to collect money and give out a ticket. 

 

Attention gamers!  Our next gathering is this Friday, May 20th, from 5-8 PM.  If you’d like more information, stop by the Technology Office, room 210.

 

 Juniors and sophomores is college in your future?  Want to visit a campus but aren’t sure how?  Why not visit St. Bonaventure University on May 21st?   Sign-ups are at Mrs. Smith’s room Rm 203

 

Attention creative types,  The after school program announces a rock painting series. Do you enjoy painting, drawing, being outside? Come to room 204 TOMORROW from 3:45-3:45 for some colorful and inspirational fun with Ms. Nolder. In the first of a three part series, we will select a design, go out rock hunting, and clean our rocks to prepare for painting. For more information, see Ms. Nolder

 

 Attention all 7th-12th graders:  Come climb to new heights at the Pierson Challenge course on May 19th after-school. Also join us in Kayaking down the Allegheny River on May 24th after-school.  Spots are limited for both the ropes course and kayaking.  You will need a permission slip to attend the kayaking trip. The permission slips will be hanging outside of Mrs. Colligan’s office.  Sign-ups are outside of Mrs. Colligan’s office.

 

 Applications are now available for our PCS Summer recreation program. The program is scheduled to operate from July 11th -August 11th.  Applicants should be at least 16 years of age and may require life guard certification. Applications can be picked up and should be dropped off in the elementary office no later than May 20th.

 

Students that signed up for the Buffalo Bisons Baseball game must have permission slips to attend.  Please pick up a permission slip at the High School Main Office and return the completed form to Mrs. Baker.   There are many of you that have not yet picked up your permission slips.    

 

Reminder students in 7th – 12th Grade to sign up and enjoy Culinary Club with Mrs. Bantelman and Guest Chef Mrs. Torrey THIS Wednesday.  We will be learning how to make cactus and succulent cupcakes.  

 

 “ALL IN BLOOM” Prom tickets are currently on sale in Mrs. Welty’s room throughout the day.  Cost is $50 per person for dinner and the dance.  Prom is unlike Homecoming where you can purchase tickets at the door. YOU MUST PURCHASE TICKETS AHEAD OF TIME!  They will be sold until next Monday the 23rd.  Do NOT wait to get them.  As a reminder, the dance is at the Bartlett Country Club on Saturday, June 4th from 7 to 11PM. 

NOW FOR PCS SPORTS NEWS…

Congratulations to the athletes that competed at the Super 8 Meet Champions Friday evening at Salamanca.

Kyle North took 8th place in the 100 meter dash and 5th in the long jump. Simon Szymanski took 6th place in the 400 meter dash and was a part of the 4x800 meter relay team that took 7th place along with Chris Austin, Michael Fahnestock and Ben Isaman. Bryan Randolph took 5th place in high jump. Jenna Wyant took 2nd in the 100 meter dash and 400 meter dash. Jessica Daley took 6th in the 100 meter dash. Julia Wyant took 2nd in the 200 meter dash and 7th in the long jump. Aryanna hatch took 6th place in the 400 meter dash. Ava Haynes took 5th in the 800 meter run. Sam Bray took 8th place in both the 800 meter run and 1500 meter run. Olivia Dean took 4th in pole vault. The 4x800 relay team of Ava Haynes, Natalie Isaman, Ava Edwards, and Samantha Bray took 7th. Both the 4x100 relay team of Olivia Dean, Jessica Daley, Julia Wyant, Jenna Wyant and 4x400 relay team of Jessica Daley, Aryanna hatch, Jenna Wyant, Julia Wyant took 1st place. 

 

Portville Varsity Softball improved to 15-1 defeating West Valley 14-2 on the road Saturday. Mallory Welty and Alisha Dickerson picked up the win on the mound combining for 8 strikeouts, 3 walks, and 6 hits. Congratulations to the “Co-Queens of the Plate” Teagan Kosinski and Lizzie Chapman. Kosinski went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, 4 RBI’s, 3 runs, and a stolen base while  Chapman went 3 for 3, with an RBI, and 2 runs scored. Adding to the offensive attack for PCS was Madison Ford who went 2 for 4 with a run and a stolen base, and Mallory Welty who went 2 for 3, with a double, 2 runs, and 2 RBI’s. Portville next travels to Ellicottville today to take on the eagles. Game time is 5:00pm. Go Panthers!!
