 Congratulations go out to the following students for winning prizes in the fourth annual High School Art Exhibition at the Wellsville Creative Arts Center.  It was a fantastic exhibition!!  Look for the pieces being exhibited in our hallways as well.  Nice Job and Congratulations go out to:   Everett Mix, David Brown and Drake Piatt!!

Reminder to Drama Club Members… there is a Drama club meeting  TOMORROW in Room 120.   Please make every effort to attend!

 

Students that attend Study Center – please know that it will be held in Mrs. Bantelman’s room all this week. 

 

Students that signed up for the Buffalo Bisons Baseball game must have permission slips to attend.  Please pick up a permission slip at the High School Main Office and return the completed form to Mrs. Baker.    

 

 Reminder students in 7th – 12th Grade to sign up and enjoy Culinary Club with Mrs. Bantelman and Guest Chef Mrs. Torrey on Wednesday May 18th.  We will be learning how to make cactus and succulent cupcakes.  

The Buffalo Museum of Science Trip is scheduled for Saturday, May 14th.  Please see Mr. Mitchell for more details and to sign up. 

 

Starting Wednesday, May 18th Miss Burdick and Mrs. Maxson will be holding puppetry workshops. If you’d like to participate, please sign up outside Mrs. Maxson’s room 120!

 

Now news from the Sports World……

Attention Modified Track there is no practice today.

 

The Student Council in conjunction with Connect Life is holding a blood drive on Thursday May 19th in the high school gym. If you donated in March, you are eligible to donate again. Please sign up with Mrs. Welty and help save three lives with your donation.

The Portville Varsity Softball team improved to 12-1 last night defeating Catt-LV 14-4 in league action. Mallory Welty and Alisha Dickerson combined for 9 strikeouts, 5 walks, and 8 hits securing the victory on the mound. Congratulations to last nights ”Golden Glove” and Queen of the Plate” Mattison Foster who went 3 for 5, with a triple, 3 runs, and an RBI. Also adding to the offensive attack for Portville was Mallory Welty who went 3 for 5, with 1 run, and 4 RBI’s, while Teagan Kosinski went 2 for 3, with a triple, 3 runs, and 2 RBI’s, and Lizzie Chapman went 2 for 4, with a run and 3 RBI’s. Portville next hosts North Collins on Wednesday May 11th. Game time is 5:15pm. Go Panthers!

 

Last evening our boys and girls track teams travelled to Franklinville where they fell short to Franklinville/ellicottville’s depth. Top finishers included: Jenna Wyant, Julia Wyant, Jessica Daley, Olivia Dean, Ava Haynes, Aryanna Hatch, Natalie Maurer, Natalie Isaman, Parker Dornan, Simon Szymanski, Kaedon Holcomb, Bryan Randolph, Michael fahnestock, and Aiden Weimer. Also a very special congratulations to our very own Jenna Wyant for breaking the  school record in 400 meter dash with a time of 59.8. The record was previously set by Nancy Ballentine in 1985 with a time of 1:00.3. Keep up the amazing work Jenna! 

 

Last night the varsity baseball team improved to 12 and 1, routing Cattaraugus-Little Valley 20 to nothing in 4 innings. Michael Cole threw a no-hitter, striking out 8 of the 9 batters he faced. POG Dakota Mascho had 2 hits including a double, as did Maxwell Yehl and Luke Petryszak. Michael Cole and Nathan Petryszak scored 3 runs each, and Ryan "Bassmaster" Stillman scored twice. Christian Gariepy and Drew Brink each recorded their first varsity hits. Portville heads to Randolph tonight.
