The Lady Panthers improved to 8 and 1 in league play, and 15 and 3 overall with two wins this past week. Their victory over Falconer secured a CCAA Central Division Championship.  The Lady Panthers found themselves in a big hole down by 12 in the 1st quarter and gradually chipped away at the lead until the score was tied at 31 apiece to end the 3rd quarter.  Mia Welty was huge in the 4th quarter as she scored 13 consecutive points, while hitting three three-pointers.    Her final one tied the game at 42.  We got a defensive stop and then they fouled Mallory Welty on the next possession. She made the first free throw and missed the second.  Ava Haynes had her biggest rebound of the night on that missed free throw! Falconer was forced to foul Mallory again, only this time she made both with 7 seconds remaining.  The Lady Bears got off a shot but Lilly Bentley secured the rebound as time ran out. Lilly finished with 12 points, 19 boards, and 3 blocks.  Ava Haynes had 10 rebounds.  Mallory stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals.

The Lady Panther basketball team will be celebrating their Seniors on Tuesday.  Please come out and support Kendall Artlip, Matteson Fries, Courtney Lyle, Jordyn Sickels, and Mia & Mallory Welty in their final league game of the season. We are also recognizing Courtney Hathaway for being a manager the past four seasons. The girls have requested that everyone wear maroon in support of Portville Pride.  Senior Night festivities will take place immediately after the JV game so you should be at the school by 7:15PM.
