Good Morning PCS Panthers…

 TODAY is Friday,   February 16th, 2024                                                        It is an “ A “  Day.

 

Chorus lessons today are:

 Pd 8- Alana

 Pd 9 -Maddy F

 

All students in 7th through 12th are reminded that they are not permitted to be on the 2nd floor of the school building after school unless they are with a teacher or coach.

 

Portville 7-12th graders have the opportunity to go tubing at Holiday Valley on Wednesday, February 28th.  The bus will leave at 3:30, and students will return to the school around 8pm.  Pizza and drinks will be provided.  Permission slips are outside of Room 201.  Please return your permission slips to Mrs. Morella or Mrs. Smith.

 

Culinary Club sign-up is up for Wednesday, February 21st for our next meeting. Be sure to sign-up by Monday, February 19th. We will be working with an old favorite- Asian Lettuce Wraps!

 

Now for your PCS Sports News….

Any individuals grades 7-12 interested in cheerleading next fall please sign up outside of guidance or send a message to Mrs. Torrey via Teams

 

REMINDER to girls interested in signing up for Modified, JV, or Varsity softball sign up sheets are posted outside of Coach Torrey’s room.

 

Also, Reminder to students in grades 7 and 8!  Spring is coming and so is the 2024 Modified Track and Field season. If you are a Trackamaniac, or want to become one, sign-up today. There are sign-ups in two convenient locations, 7th grade hall by Mrs. Strade’s room and in the 8th grade hallway by Mr. Mitchell’s room.

 

Students in  9th – 12th grade that are interested in Varsity  Track and Field, please sign-up outside of Mrs. Luce’s classroom or send a message via Teams to Mrs. Luce, Mrs. Strade or Mr. Gnan. First practice is March 11th!  

 

The 7th grade boys modified basketball team concluded their season with a close one to West Valley.  The score was 18 – 15.  Shawn Pavia led the way offensively with 5 points.  Carter McFall chipped in 4 points.  Mattew Ellis and Rex Horsley did a great job defensively.  Miles Todd and Josh Austin did a great job on the boards.  Thanks for the great season from Coach Brennan!

Friday’s trivia of the day brought to you by the Culture Club:  Tuesday, February 20th is World Day of Social Justice.  Throughout history, there have been numerous individuals who have been pillars of social justice.  One of the “Big 6”, this individual was a predominant part in the March on Washington, “Bloody Sunday”, the march from Selma to Montgomery, held his House of Representative position for 34 years and coined the termed “Good Trouble”.
