Board of Education Petition

“Petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the School District not later than April 22, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. The following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education: 5 year term of incumbents Doug Doty and West Long. Each petition must be directed to the Clerk of the District, must be signed by at least 25 (twenty five) qualified voters of the District, must be filed with the District Clerk at least 30 (thirty) days prior to the budget vote on May 21, 2019, and must state the name and residence of the candidate. Blank forms are available in the superintendent’s office at Portville Central School.”

Two Running Unopposed for Seat on Portville Central School Board

On May 21st, voters of the Portville Central School District will be electing two people to the Board of Education. One is Incumbent Douglas Doty who has been on the board since 2004. Doug is a 1983 Portville graduate and co-owner of Will-Do Construction. He resides in Portville with his wife, Julie. He has four daughters, all graduates of PCS, and two grandchildren.

The other is newcomer, Robert Colligan. Bob is a graduate of Olean High School and has resided in the Portville School District for 7 years with his wife, Beth, and 4 children, Gavin, a junior at Thiel College, Sidney, a current senior at Portville, Emma, who is in Pre-K at Portville, and 2 year-old Chloe. He is employed as a Customer Accounts Specialist at Elantas PDS (formerly Cytec.) Bob has been involved in Portville Athletics for 6 years and has coached JV Girls Volleyball for 2 seasons. He states that although his two older children will have graduated from PCS when he takes his board seat on July 1st, he “still has two young daughters that will be coming through the system and he’d like to be a part of making sure that all PCS students’ needs are met.”

Bob will be filling the vacant seat of West Long who has decided not to seek re-election on the board.
