In Other News…..Art students across New York State were asked to depict a day in the life of the average school bus to capture the places it goes and the things it sees. The winning art piece will be made into full-size, professional quality prints and will be shared with school districts and school bus enthusiasts throughout all of New York State.

This year’s winner of the “Day in the Life of a School Bus” Art Competition & Scholarship was Portville’s very own Jackie Daley! In addition to having her winning artwork seen all over New York State, Jackie also received a $1,000 scholarship! Congratulations, Jackie!

Also in our PCS News……A number of our students recently competed in the “TERRA Regeneron ISEF Science and Engineering Fair.”  The presentations were all done online.  Portville students performed very well.  Various award winners included:  Caydence Zalwsky, Trey Williams, Matt Bokman, Micki Greene, Thomas Scanlon, Christian Gariepy, Megan Pagett, Rachel Waddell, Joel Stives, and Chloe Grandusky. Two of these students were winners of the TERRA Fair Genius Olympiad Award. This award was only given to four students in Western/Upstate New York! These two Portville students were Chloe Grandusky and Thomas Scanlon! Congratulations to all the Science and Engineering award winners and to Mr. Stives for your amazing teaching and guidance for all of these students as well.

Finally, we send out Congratulations to senior Kaleb Shaw, who will be representing Portville Central School in the 2021 All-Eastern Mixed Chorus!  There were over 1,150 All-State applicants from 11 northeastern states and Kaleb is the only student musician from Cattaraugus County who was selected!   The 2021 All-Eastern Honors Ensemble Virtual Concert will premiere tonight @ 8:45 PM.

What an extraordinary musical accomplishment, Kaleb! PCS is very proud of you!
