Our Athletes of the Month for the month of October are…
Each of the following girls have been a huge reason our Lady Panthers are undefeated, haven’t lost a set yet this year and are playing for the overall Class C championship tonight.
Shayla Wilhelm 116 kills & 22 blocks
Olivia Cook118 kills, 40 blocks, 63 digs & 29 aces
Taylor Beck 103 digs & 45 aces
Reggie Tkacik 79 aces & 79 digs
Hailey Keim 93 kills, 51 digs & 17 aces
Ainslie Gardner: after battling injuries in early September (limited playing time)... then sitting out for 2 weeks (no practices and no games), she returned healthy – scored 7 goals in October; including 2 goals in her first game back, and 3 goals at home against Catt-LV. She brought energy and leadership, and goal-scoring, to team at a much-needed time.
Harley Robinson: No goals/assists because she’s a sweeper, but countless times she made play after play on the defensive end. From day 1 of pre-season, right through the final minute of our final game, she showed exemplary speed, endurance, and athleticism. Anyone who has seen our team knows the success we experienced was in large part due to her play in the back: long goal kicks, chasing down potential breakaways, winning balls out of the air, and keeping the defense organized.
Both girls played their hearts out in their final season of PCS soccer.
Tyler Robinson-As our goalie, Tyler single-handedly kept us in a majority of our games this season. Tyler recorded roughly 134 saves this season.
Kyle Stone-Kyle played as an outside defender, and as the season progressed he became one of the best shutdown defenders in our league. His aggressive play made all the difference in our sectional win over Frewsburg.
Kyle Mathes- Kyle set up a majority of our goals this season, leading our team with 7 assists. In the month of October alone, Mathes had one goal and 3 assists.
Nate Petryszak-Nate scored 3 goals in October, including the game winner against Holland. He also added two assists.
Nick Harmon-After a slow start to the season, Nick really took off in October. He scored 5 goals and had one assist. He had the game winning goal in over-time vs Salamanca/Catt. LV and also had the game winner against Ellicottville.
Swimming: Kassidy Gehm and Olivia Marshall
Cheerleaders: Kiersten Ferguson- squad chosen captain and she’s a phenomenal base. with her base buddy they’re unstoppable. She willing to try any stunt, with the Flyers safety her first priority. Very sweet and helps anyone in need. Corissa Cousins- Shows spirit and pride by Painted signs and banners. She’s goes above and beyond to show how much cheer means to her. She Helped Delivered signs to the seniors houses in the middle of the night. Renee Cook- Very proud to be a Portville Cheerleader. She respects everyone on the squad and gives 110%. Loud on the sidelines but quiet at school. Excellent skills on fronting a basket toss.
Football: Jayden Lassiter just shy of 1100 rushing yards and 25 total touchdowns Dalton Tobola Tobola moves into 2nd all time is Portville history in receiving yards Blake George led class C south in interceptions with 4
