Special Announcement for Athletic Department:
Here are the Athletes of the Month for the Spring Season…
Girls and Boys Track:
Bryar Childs – Bryar competed very well in the month of April, picking up several 1st place finishes in the triple jump and the long jump. She has also competed in the 300 and 400 hurdles. She has been a leader on the team through her performance and sportsmanship. She has also been a member of multiple relays, filling in whenever and wherever she is asked. Bryar also was one of only 2 girls to qualify for the Super 8 meet.
Alex Wenke – Alex has really come on this year. He has increased his distances in the long and triple jump by multiple feet compared to last year’s best efforts. He has placed first in the triple jump at every regular track meet this year. Alex has placed first at multiple big track meets including the Elks Spring Day in Wellsville as well as the Super 8 meet of champions. Alex is also a member of the 400 and 1600 relay teams.
Jackie Daley – There aren’t many races that Jackie Daley loses. She has been an outstanding sprinter for us to close off the year. She was one of only 2 girls to compete at the Super 8 Track meet. Jackie has been dependable and hard working. It shows by her being the only girl go compete at the Section Championship meet held at Williamsville South. She qualified for the 100, 200, and 400.
Derek Dean – Derek is old school. Whatever you tell him to do for a workout he does it and then asks for more. You couldn’t ask for a better athlete to coach. Derek constantly seeks out ways to make himself better. He is as solid of a teammate that any athlete could ask for. He competed in the Super 8 meet setting a personal best in the 800. He then ran an even faster time at the county meet which put him into second place all time on the top 10 800 runners in Portville history, pushing Mr. Burlingame into 3rd place.
Brandon Murray - Brandon batted a robust 611 with five doubles and 9 RBIs, and an 889 slugging percentage.
Joe Long - Joseph recorded two wins on the mound in April, while carving out a perfect 0.00 ERA and recording 9 strikeouts.

Noah Kellogg- Noah shot a 53 and was the Medalist for the match against Franklinville.
Mia Hlasnick has the team’s leading batting average this season with 0.487 is 4th in runs scored and 4th in runs driven in and her stellar performance and strong arm behind the plate has kept base runners at bay all season long.
Karly Welty has the team’s second highest batting average with a 0.458, is 3rd in runs scored and 1st in runs driven in. Her ability to roam the outfield and run down fly balls coupled with her big bat was a large part of our success this season.
Jill Hlasnick had a batting average of 0.371 and is second on the team in runs scored. Her ability to reach base as a leadoff hitter made the top of our order stronger. This along with her spectacular defensive play up the middle all season long was critical to our success this season.
Bryn Milne has the team’s third highest batting average with 0.425 and she leads the team in runs scored and stolen bases. Her speed on the base paths along with her quick glove at third base was crucial to our success all season long.
